The College of Civil and Transportation Engineering of Shenzhen University was established on the basis of the Department of Structural and Municipal Engineering. In April 1997, due to the implementation of the college system, the College of Architecture and Civil Engineering was established by the union of the Department of Architecture, Structural and Municipal Engineering and the Department of Environmental Design. In 2006, in response to the rapid development of the discipline, an independent Civil Engineering College was established, which was renamed the College of Civil and Transportation Engineering in 2019.
In 2003, the Alumni Association of the School of Architecture and Civil Engineering was founded by Xueqin Deng, a civil engineering alumnus of grade 85, with the purpose of "contacting alumni, solidarity and mutual assistance, and common development" and the activity concept of "service alumni and service college", committed to " contacting alumni, serving alumni; giving back to the college, serving educating people." In response to the rapid development of the discipline, in September 2006, Shenzhen University established an independent College of Civil Engineering, from which the alumni association became an exclusive organization of the College of Civil Engineering. At the same time, the first board of directors of the Alumni Association of the College of Civil Engineering of Shenzhen University was established with the alumni of Xueqin Deng as its president and Feng Xing as the honorary president.
In September 2008, the Alumni Association of the College of Civil Engineering of Shenzhen University celebrated its 25th Anniversary and the 2nd general meeting of the alumni association. Xueqin Deng successfully re-elected as the president of the alumni association. On September 28, 2013, the Alumni Association of the College of Civil Engineering of Shenzhen University celebrated its 30th Anniversary and the third general meeting of the alumni association. Xuechun Lin, a graduate of grade 89, served as the president of the alumni association, and Xueqin Deng and Yibiao Li served as the honorary presidents.
In recent years, the graduated alumni of civil engineering major have reached more than 3,000. The alumni association serves as a bridge between alumni and alma mater, unites the alumni, strengthens the connections between alumni and the university, and promotes the alumni’s care and understanding of the college, gathers the strength of the alumni, and jointly promotes the development of the college's education, thus playing a key role in promoting the general progress of the alumni.
The role of the Alumni Association:
Help the development of alumni careers and become a value-added device for cultivating alumni resources;
Provide guidance and help for students' life planning and become a booster for students' healthy growth;
Guide alumni to give back to the college and become the resource for alumni to support the teaching and education of the college.
At the same time, in order to strengthen the relationship between alumni and the alma mater, and to improve the relationship between alumni and students, the alumni association will also regularly organize various activities, including academic activities such as "alumni zero distance", entertainment activities such as "Photo Club", "Golf Club", and regularly gather alumni of each session to strengthen their relationship, helping alumni release pressure in these activities, learn something, gain friendship, and even promote resources information exchange, so as to promote sustainable development of the platform of alumni association.
Today, with the purpose of serving the civil and alumni graduates, the alumni association will create a better and more exciting alumni association that belongs to our civil engineers! We believe that under the guidance of the "Shenzhen Spirit", this group can truly become a bridge for communication between alumni and alma mater.
